You will live with the family taking all meals, wherever possible, with them. You will be invited to join in any social activities that are taking place.

Breakfast will usually be fruit juice, toast, coffee, tea or hot chocolate. At week-ends there might be the opportunity of a typical English cooked breakfast.

Lunch is usually a light meal in the UK, a sandwich, or soup and bread, or eggs/cheese on toast, crisps, yoghurt, fruit and perhaps something sweet.

The evening meal is a substantial 2 course meal consisting of either a starter and main course or a main course followed by a pudding. The application form asks about any dietary requirements and most diets can be catered for. If you discover something that you can’t eat whilst you are here please let your teacher know and you won’t be offered it again! Don’t be shy – your teacher needs to know so that she/he can make sure that you enjoy everything about your course.

You will be supplied with fresh towels and bedding every week and it will be your responsibility to change your bed. Very young students will of course be helped with this. Laundry will be done for you once a week and there are ironing facilities – just ask your Homestay teacher. Please remember that you are living as a member of a family and not in a hotel!
